MEDVIA and FIT are arranging a mission to China from 7-13 April for Flanders’ medtech and pharma sectors

Join MEDVIA and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) on our joint mission to Shanghai and Suzhou from 7-13 April 2024.
China is the second-largest healthcare market in the world after the US. Over the past decade, a new generation of innovative biotech and medtech companies has emerged. Now expanding globally, these concerns are looking to become partners with foreign companies in China for licensing, clinical testing, (bio)manufacturing and commercialization.
Over the last 10 years, Chinese biotech and medtech companies have emerged as global innovators. Flanders’ healthtech sector has, therefore, an interest in understanding the market and regulatory aspects, evaluating partners and considering clinical development and sales in China.
The mission offers Flemish medtech companies an excellent opportunity to see with their own eyes what is happening in this valuable market. It can help to further shape internationalization plans. For those with plans to invest in China, FIT can help set up B2B meetings for your company.
Who can attend the mission?
The healthtech/pharma mission to China will take place from 7-13 April 2024. A co-operation between MEDVIA and FIT, this mission is open to companies that are located partly or fully in Flanders and are active in the following sectors:
- Medical Devices (class I, II, III)
- Diagnostics
- Lab or biopharma equipment manufacturers
- CROs and regulatory consults in medtech and diagnostics
The number of companies that can join the mission is limited to 15. Given the strong focus on tech, FIT and MEDVIA will select which companies best fit in with the objectives of the mission. A similar mission will take place in the autumn of 2024 aimed at companies from the biotech sector, in collaboration with flanders.bio.
What’s on the program?
Following tours in Shanghai and Suzhou, participants in the mission will visit the China Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF). The mission offers the opportunity to get acquainted with the healthcare and medtech ecosystem in China, meet leading and innovative local players, talk with Flemish companies working with China and pitch to potential business partners.
- Visits to top hospitals and leading Chinese medtech companies
- Seminar on China’s healthcare market (regulation, technology & business)
- Matchmaking with reliable service providers (regulatory, commercial, legal/IP, soft landing)
- Conversations with Flemish medtech companies operating in China
- Pitching and matchmaking sessions with potential business partners
- Group tour of the CMEF exhibition halls & access to FIT meeting room
Does your company already have a distributor or commercial manager in China? Then you can register to be part of the FIT group stand at CMEF, whether or not you are selected to take part in the mission.
How much will it cost?
The registration fee for the mission to China is €750. This includes one participant from your company and the ticket to CMEF (but not the FIT group stand). Companies can pay €500 per additional participant.
The fee does not include costs associated with travel and accommodation. FIT can offer suggestions for flights and hotels. Subsidies from FIT are available to help cover these costs.
