The Flanders Technology & Innovation festival (FTI) is really six festivals spread across Flanders’ most innovative cities: Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven, Brussels, Hasselt and Kortrijk.

Of course healthtech innovations have a prominent place in this many-faceted festival, and MEDVIA is there to explore lifestyles of the future, discuss medical device regulations and be part of a Human Library.

MEDVIA at FTI: Where and when?

Het Lichaam van de Toekomst / 13-20 March / Leuven  Discover “The Body of the Future”, an interactive installation on Martelaarenplein in Leuven. Experiencing Deep Screen 3D and sensors that detect what’s going on inside our bodies feels like science fiction, but it’s already a reality. The installation includes a video about MEDVIA’s mission and services!

Winter Circus Exhibition / 16-17 March / Ghent  Experience Ghent’s historical Winter Circus building like never before – or ever again. At this one-of-a-kind weekend, vintage meets high tech as you travel through the past and to the future via installations, projections and soundscapes. Don’t miss the MEDVIA-funded project AstroCardia – which is putting a heart in space. More MEDVIA members are featured in this magical journey, including Ghent University, UZ Gent, VIB and imec.

The Human Library / 19 March / Leuven  Imagine a library where you borrow captivating conversations instead of books. That’s the idea during this event where you are invited to chat with tech enthusiasts and future visionaries, including MEDVIA’s Innovation Director Isabelle Francois. An app a day keeps the doctor away, she might say … but will we one day never have to visit a doctor again?

Inspire Health&Care / 19 & 21 March / Ghent  Of course MEDVIA would not miss this major event dedicated to the healthcare sector. On 19 March, our CEO, Ann Van Gysel, will lead the panel discussions Digitalisering in de Gezondheidszorg and Data & AI in de Gezondheidszorg. On 21 March, our Services Director, Roel Smolders joins Voka Health Community’s discussion on Innovation for Home-Based Healthcare.

CEO Roundtable / 20 March / Leuven  C-level members of MEDVIA are invited to MEDVIA’s CEO Roundtable, where we will talk about MDR and certifications. We welcome guest speaker Virgine Siloret of SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company. Join us and get a free ticket to Health Meets Hardware, taking place at the same location (see below).

Health Meets Hardware / 20 March / Leuven  An event dedicated to innovations in healthcare? Not without MEDVIA! Stop by our booth at this event bringing together Belgian and European pioneers in healthcare product development. You can meet our special guest Virginie Siloret of SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company. MEDVIA also hosts our CEO Roundtable during this event (see above).

FTI Slotfestival / 23-24 March / Antwerp  MEDVIA joins our trusted members and partners Vito and imec for FTI’s big closing event at the Sportpaleis. Come visit us at our collective booth devoted to health innovation and don’t miss our CEO talk about the future of healthcare during FTI Talks!

Better together

and are joining forces in a brand new organization

The members of MEDVIA and flanders.bio have voted to merge their activities in the first half of 2025. With a united voice, we will champion the entire healthtech and biotech ecosystem on the regional, federal and European stage.

The merger allows MEDVIA and flanders.bio to align activities and deliver more powerful support for our collective members. We will achieve greater impact with more dynamic networking opportunities, better directed funding and increased efficiency, sharpening our focus in common areas and drafting strategic roadmaps for Flanders.
